Senators: Stop Fueling the Saudi-Led War on Yemen

Senators Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Mike Lee (R-UT) just introduced a bipartisan bill to end U.S. support for the Saudi-led war on Yemen—and it’s guaranteed a vote.If we can get this bill passed in the Senate, we can win the biggest human rights victory yet of the Trump presidency. But there’s only a short window of time to act before the Senate takes it up for a vote. Can you sign our petition and tell your Senators to support the Sanders-Lee bill on Yemen? I know you care about the nightmare in Yemen—and the fact that under Trump, U.S. support for the Saudi-led bombings has escalated, while his Muslim Ban has blocked Yemenis from seeking refuge. As each day passes, more and more Yemenis are losing their lives waiting for this war to end. The cholera epidemic and severe food shortages show no signs of slowing down, as the Saudi-led bombings continue.

Tell FCC Chairman Pai: Recuse Yourself

The FCC Inspector General’s investigation into your dealings with Sinclair Broadcast Group—which follows a lengthy trail of decisions designed specifically to facilitate the company’s merger—leaves no doubt that you are not acting in the interests of the public. We demand that you recuse yourself from decisions surrounding the proposed merger between Sinclair Broadcast Group and Tribune Media Services, along with any proceedings before the FCC that would have an impact on Sinclair’s ability to execute the merger.

LA City Council and Mayor Garcetti: We Oppose CVE

The Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) initiative unfairly singles out Muslim communities for surveillance and criminalization. LA’s CVE programs have been developed and launched in an opaque process without broad community consultation. The Trump administration has made it clear that they plan to use the program to target Muslims.

I urge you to reject CVE funding from Trump’s Department of Homeland Security.

Congress: Stop Fueling the War on Yemen

We urge you to stop fueling the deadly war on Yemen and support H. Con. Res. 81—Directing the President pursuant to section 5(c) of the War Powers Resolution to remove United States Armed Forces from unauthorized hostilities in the Republic of Yemen.

Fire Nashville Teacher Who Ripped Off Student’s Hijab

We demand that the New Vision Academy Charter school fire the teacher who violated the student’s body and privacy. There should be a zero-tolerance policy for teachers’ actions that physically harm students and then publicize them online.

Tell FCC Chairman Pai: No Trump TV

The FCC should not repeal rules that protect competition and a free press. We urge Chairman Ajit Pai and the rest of the Commission to vote against broadcast deregulation on November 16th. The reinstatement of a UHF discount serves no purpose other than to facilitate the merger of the Sinclair-Tribune corporations—a blatant quid pro quo in exchange for the company’s positive coverage of the Trump administration.
